The Mansion on Forsyth Park has a fabulous restaurant located inside called 700 Drayton. This is the same location of the cooking class that the wives had on Friday morning of the AIPPM (paper meeting).
The husbands hadn't gotten to enjoy any food other than at the hotel, so we headed to the mansion Saturday for lunch.
This is the exact table where we were seated. The Tynes, Meredith, and Don and I enjoyed a low country menu with foods such as crab cakes, rock lobster chowder, street fish tacos, and shrimp with grits.
With our meal we chose a bottle of 2010 Bianco dello Stella ($15) by Grandi & Gabana. It is a blend of 60% Friulano and 40% Malvasia Istriana. The waitress said it's like a Sauvignon Blanc and she was on spot. We loved it! This wine is a blend of freshness and full flavor. Bright yellow color with soft green hints. Lively floral fragrance with delicate hints of ripe fruit. An almond character becomes quite prominent and is very delightful. Don't miss it. Use a medium sized, tuple shaped glass with a slight inward closing on the rim.
