I started to blog about three years ago when I was teaching fourth grade. I tried to find time to teach my students how to blog and they got the gist of it. But apparently testing is more important than expressing yourself. Grading students writing and reading passages, getting ready for the TAKS (now STAAR) testing, and simply living life kept me from ever writing anymore and publishing the very first paragraph. I don't even know where it is or what blog site I started on. I know! That's terrible for a writing teacher to admit!
Anyway, not that I've taking up drinking as a hobby, but wine has kinda become sort of an interest in my life. I think I began with simple white wines such as Rieslings, which are way too sweet to me now. Sharing a glass of wine with my daughters was and is so much fun. I owe my continued interest in wines to my wonderful husband, who doesn't keep wine in the cellar very long. He has taught me to love many new and different wines.
So starting now, I begin the adventure of trying to unwrangle the mystery of wonderful wines of all kinds. The first bottle of wine I will preview was tasted in Carmel, California, January 2012 at Highlands Inn overlooking the Pacific Ocean. We were there for the week between Christmas and the New Year. I have others I will share from this trip later.
This wine is very dark in color and as one wine enthusiast says it is like drinking pure liquid velvet! At the time I tasted it, I was not a red wine drinker of any kind. But I'm here to say, it's worth every penny! Enjoy!
