Last Winery of Paso Robles #DaouVineyards #SeeYouAtTheTop

What a surprise we were in store for when we arrived at Daou Vineyards! It is truly at the top of a mountain and the views are spectacular, not to mention the wine is just as spectacular also! This being our fifth winery for the day, I really need to go back and have a redo! I couldn't really enjoy this place after tasting in four rooms before we got to Daou. One tends not to sip and pour back, but drink it all. Such a light-weight that I am, that's not good!
We weren't going here until other tasters in a tasting room before this one said we needed to go here if nothing else but the view!

I think the is the only winery today that didn't have a picnic area!
This winery was started by two brothers that grew up in France. Daou's quest is to create the best Cabernet Sauvignon that rivals the very best in the world. For some reason, I didn't make it back with a Cab, but will order one. (or 6).

Here's what I did purchase!

2011 Viognier ($38) For some reason, it says on the website that it is only for club members, but I got one! Oranges, honey and vanilla come to mind when you open and taste the wine.

2011 Reserve Zinfandel ($56) 100 percent Zinfandel grapes-It's an amazing wine from the nose to the mouth with hints of vanilla, red and black fruits, strawberries, raspberries, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

That's the end of the Paso Robles journey in 3 1/2 hours 5 wineries later. Here we are stopping for gas and restroom!

Yes, she's holding me up! James Dean wouldn't help!
