#TahoeCity Wine Walk

Last June, Don and I made a trip to Lake Tahoe. Neither one of us had been there and didn't know what lay in store for us. I have to tell you that it is the most beautiful lake I have ever seen in my life. We stayed in Squaw Creek at the Resort at Squaw Creek hidden in the mountains. It was freezing cold some of the days we were there and therefore we didn't get to play golf (well, he didn't, I don't play!). But as another activity for the day, we chose to drive over to Tahoe City and go on the Wine Walk!

This year's Wine Walk is June 22nd, but we will be in Sonoma tasting wine there! I know it would probably be cooler there, but I love Sonoma too!

While we were there, we had some fabulous wines I wanted to share!
This is one of the wine bars/tasting rooms that we went into during the walk. But most of the wineries are set up outside along the streets and it is so much fun. You are given a glass at registration and off you go! Your ticket allows you to taste as much as you can during the four hours it lasts.
I had a 2011 Keenan Chardonnay ($31) from Napa, Spring Mountain District. It received 91 points from Wine and Spirits Magazine. It has a crisp, citrus character and a medium body that will go well with a variety of foods.
Another wine we tasted was the 2009 Millbrandt Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon ($16). It is said to be the reason why Cabernet is the "king" of Washington State.
One evening we ate in the resort restaurant, Six Peaks Grille, which was excellent. While dining we chose a half-bottle of 2006 Adobe Road Cabernet Sauvignon ($25) which is now sold out. It was unbelievably good. I still have the empty bottle sitting on our wine cabinet. We hope to visit their tasting room or winery this next week!
While you are in Tahoe, you have to take a catamaran ride on the lake. It is so relaxing with very interesting history and facts of the lake and surrounding areas.
Enjoy!
